AKAI MPK49 and the Overdub Button

Hello all.
I got a serious question.
Today i got my AKAI MPK49 - all set up, its all working perfectly.
i just got one wish.
when i make music i use the overdub button (the yellow one at the top) a lot. this is the button you press when to actually record. so you could listen and play without recording. its good to try some things out. especially when i build my drum patterns i use that feature i lot.
now im wondering why this isnt automatically connected to the MPK. there is a Record Button, but this is for Recording in the arangement view. And if i press that button while playing i Overwrite my previous notes. so thats not what i want.
im really wondered.. this happens to me in other areas a lot.. i common user feature which i think is totally normal and everybody needs it / is using it and its missing!
So, i tried to assign the OVR button manually by pressing cmd+m. This works for all knobs and for the keys but it doesn't work for the "record" button in the middle of the controller, it just turns it on, not off again.
so there must be a configuration for every midi controller in live somewhere where i can make just adjustments what to do when which midi note/control is received? i did something like that back with my old akai mpk mini.
that is so sad i thought i can now record without using mouse and keyboard...
