Macbook pro RAM

Just a quick question
I'm planning on buying a 13" macbook pro for college and music production/playing. Will the standard 4 GB be enough for optimum ableton performance or should i upgrade it to 8GB for an extra 200 quid?
Also would a 13" screen be big enough for using it in live performances andthat kind of thing?

£200 !? is that apple's price for 8gb?
i have the april 2011 i7 mbp. came with 4gb which was fine, but i figured that ram was so cheap at the moment, i bought 8gb corsair ram for £35. it's now £30:

4GB will be fine for now, you can always upgrade later if you find you need it. NEVER buy ram from Apple, it's way too expensive.

what Tarekith said. Buying ram from Apple is basically like lighting a couple large bills on fire.
Upgrade to 8gb when you feel the need (or 16gb if you want, the newer mbp's can unofficially take 16gb)

I was complaining the other day my studio MBP was too slow for video editing. Then i realized it only had 2gb of RAM in it.
4GB is plenty.

I got 8 after having 2 for £30 from Crucial and I notice a big difference, very nice.
But I am on a 2009 MBpro...

note that if you will be on Lion, you need the 8Gb. I don't know why but the deallocation of memory when performing certain tasks within that OS isn't managed very well. There's times when I had only a handful of light apps running after having done browsing and quit that I was left with less than 1 Gb. Upgrade yourself to 8 as the others said.

It is ridiculous not to upgrade considering current prices (paid 30 or 40 Euro for 8Gb) there is noticeable difference compared to 4Gb.

Cheers for the help guys! I think i'll get ordering now and get that Corsair 8GB RAM too. Is it easy to set up the new RAM for someone who isn't very technical..?

I am looking at upgrading my ram from 4 to 8.
Is it ok to just get 1x4gb unit and put it in or is it recommended to get 2x4gb units so they are the same and not use the old one? So what I am saying is if all the specs are the same it shouldn't really matter should it?
EDIT: Ok just realised I am currently running 2x2gb units, not 1x4gb :p
