punch in/out effects for ableton

Hello,

I am trying to find a way to make my effects punch in and out in ableton. I want the effect to activate when I push in my controller button, and deactivate when I release, basically operating in a gate mode. So far, the only way I have found to do this is with the Sugar Bytes Artillery - http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xfu4hi ... ate_school

I'm trying to get a similar action, but I don't have artillery, so I was wondering if anyone else might know how to make this happen (starts talking about it at 2:40 or so)

I have been able to work it so I can turn on and off with a button press, but I want the gate ability and not to have to make a second button press to turn it off.

thanks

What controller are you using?

Your button will be sending a TOGGLE command instead of momentary. Most controllers you can change this. If you have a MIDI keyboard, map a note key to the function and this should do what you want I think. Otherwise you either need to change the way the button works on your controller or use some other software in between to manage the command.

I'm using an APC20, and live 8.

I have been looking, and haven't found a way to change the button command from toggle to momentary (which is what I'm ideallly looking to do).

I'm hoping to avoid more software. I'd rather keep it as lite as possible, so hoping to not have to use other software to manage that command.

I will definitely be doing some playing around, seeing what I can do to change the button to momentary instead of toggle. Thanks for the suggestions!

Ah, ok.

On the APC I don't think you can change the button behaviour on the controller itself (I don't have one but I do have a launchpad and you can't change anything on that).

If it is hard fixed as a toggle then I am not sure what can be done without additional software to change the commands. That is what I personally use which works great, but isn't for everyone.
