How long ago did we first hear about Bitwig? Well this thread was started Jan 12 2012.. what's that 18 months??
So how long are you going to give a brand new DAW to be made readily available? Built from the ground up, EVERYTHING new..
The term 'clutching at straws' comes to mind here..
Carry on!

this thread and this "idea" of Bitwig are both so old and dusty at this point... that all of this has happened [in this thread] before:

I could be mistaken but I think development was in it's second year, at least, two years ago. The start of this thread was not near the beginning of Bitwig.
Three years is about when they popped into the radar, a little less actually. It wasn't until about a year and a half ago that it was announced as a DAW.
Founded in 2009 according to their web site.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=116571&hilit=+bitwig
and that's when it was first mentioned on this forum... which means that they probably didn't come up with the idea the day before.
So yeah, moving right along...

the excitement I get from Bitwig is not about how many years it will take, but about that somebody is at least talking about making the things I want.
Live 9 didn't bring them, Ableton isn't talking about them. No other company is doing what I want. To see a single company, whoever they are, talking about doing the things that I want. That's perhaps not exciting, but it is reassuring that I will have somewhere to potentially go to from Live 8.
Live 8 still works just fine for me, but for the future it's good to know that I may have an option.

I'm selling all my gear and my laptop and buying a boss dr. 660 and a boss sp-303 sampler and one turntable. Going back to my roots. Fuck a DAW !! Maybe even throw an analog mono synth in there

Funny you should say that, I have a sp-303 (only slightly broken) and I'm waiting for my MS-20 to arrive. Is it wrong to be more excited about the rerelease of an ancient piece of hardware than either Ableton 9 or Bitwig? No it isn't.

Nope. Not wrong at all. I've been really thinking about getting an ms-20. I used to run all kinds of stuff thru my sp303. Sadly, I sold it but they're pretty easy to get. I'm really loving hard ware these days. I've bought and sold so many synths and thought for awhile that I wanted a minimal set up. Now I miss that stuff. I still have my Mikrokorg and I love it. I think I'm gonna get on ebay n start making some deals.
