About live performance and delay compensation.

Hello,
is it better to turn off the "Delay compensation" option for live performance (when you don't record anything)?

I'm a bit confused with this option.
Let me explain, I'm experiencing a little latency with my voice microphone, but when I turn off the Delay Compensation option, it's perfect, absolutely no latency (or at least impossible to notice with human ear).
How come it's better without the option made for that purpose?

I think I'm missing something here.

Thanks.

Did you setup the delay compensation as shown in the Ableton tutorials, or are you just turning it on with its default parameters?
