I googled and read that you should take a clean snare and add distortion and reverb, but I'm still not getting it right. Any suggestions? Thanks!

layer a few samples, that sounds like it could be a snare,kick or tom, and crash all in one...distortion, bit reduction, reverb to taste...

Could be noise with a snare sample. Id like that snare sound if it was shorter.

sounds like a layering of a snare with distorted verb and an envelopped noise that match the reverb tail
