Fully deleting a song in Ableton?

I'd like to fully delete a song, but am wondering if there's any "gotchas" to look out for? I get that I can just delete the whole folder associated with the song, but will that cause any issues with other songs...or Suite itself? For example, say I used a kick drum sample that came with Ableton in a song that I now want to delete...if I delete the song's folder, will that also delete the kick from Ableton as a whole? I'm not understanding how everything relates in this way. Can it really be as simple as deleting the song's folder?

Basically, I need to free up disk space...and any advice is appreciated!

Thanks,

Shiny

Deleting a project's folder will delete all the data contained within that project. So any other projects that link to that project will suddenly find their references missing.

However, if your deleted project references samples from another project or the Library, they would not be deleted - after all, they aren't contained in your project, just referenced from it.

Thank you for the confirmation; very helpful.

Is there a display that shows a full list of where each file is referenced from in a given project in an at-a-glance format?

I believe the wording of your reply got me on the right track, thanks.

I can check where project files are referenced using File -> Manage Files...

Thanks again for the assist!

Deleting songs wont free up much disk space, certainly not the project files as they're normally quite small seeing as they're only referencing and mapping other samples and the like.

I have all my samples on a second disk and rarely save anything into the projects own folders. When creating new stuff within projects I normally export them and save them into another folder in my samples library called my exports - keeps the project files/folders all quote small.

Given the cost of additional storage these days would it not be easier to add some more (presuming you're on PC)

Within the projects themselves, if you hover over a sample it'll tell its location in the status bar along the bottom.

Thanks for adding that.

My songs are extremely vocal heavy, so this will free up a lot of space on my end. Lots of unused takes can be ditched in one easy pass so long as I have the bits I need saved aside... I like this a lot!
