How do you select instruments to play live without mouseing?

I've been trying to work out how use a "Novation Impulse 61 keys/DAW control thingy" to control the selection of Live instruments that are loaded into tracks (Newbie at this).

I'd like to have a few backing clips loaded in scenes and be able to just quickly press a button to select/layer additional instruments to play live alongside them. With the Impulse (a newish device) I can't see any way of doing this without mouse clicks. There is no "arm" facility it seems.

This leads me to believe I must be missing something fundamental or maybe another controller would work better.

Pls excuse my ignorance - I've just really used Live to playback to date and I'm busy engaging the congregation whilst leading worship so can't spend much time clicking and peering at a screen :-)

I'm not familiar with the Impulse, but generally speaking, you can set each track to a different MIDI channel, ARM all tracks, then switch channels on the controller.

Better solution (in my opinion):

Leave the "MIDI from" values at "All ins"
and map buttons on the Impulse (e.g. those under the sliders) to the arm buttons of the tracks you want to arm

You should be able to do that using Novation Impulse as a Mackie HUI control surface using Automap.
