Microsampling - How do you approach it?

Hi Forum,
I'm a long time lurker first time poster so this might seem like a stupid question.
I really dig the micro-sampling style of production especially with artists like BreakBot, SebastiAn and LBCK. I've been trying to re-create it but it sometimes gets a little overwhelming so I was interested to see how others approach it.
So in my case I have Ableton and Maschine. Usually I just grab an old funk record and take a 4-8 bar loop. Warp it in Ableton and then bounce the audio to Maschine to where I chop it to either 1/4, 1/8 or 1/16 notes and then play pads to try and a sort of re-arranged loop. Once I got all the loops I bounce it back to Ableton for effects and mix down.
What I find is I'm lacking that sort of glitchy effect or vibe and i'm struggling to find different methods to achieve this. Here's one of my tracks as an example:
