Obviously it's a good thing, but not good for those of us who use sites like MU legitimately to send/receive files from clients.

I don't know what to say about Megaupload, I mean that Kim Dotcom guy was charged with racketeering..they kind of had it coming..
but I am not too scared about this kind of stuff, there will always be alternatives; just a couple of days ago I was reading about this new way of sharing files that's supposed to replace the way we used to share stuff on platforms like Megaupload and others alike. They call it a "dark net" and I believe audials.com was mentioned having this new technology. I wasn't really fully enlightened on how it works to tell you the truth but it sounded pretty interesting..anyone else know about it?

I haven't googled it yet but it reminds me of usenet and the like that have been around since the beginning. Same with irc (those were the days). Piracy ain't cool, but there will always be little alleys around to communicate and share. If there aren't, then it's dark times for humankind.

remember that audials thing I was telling you about? I found an article today about it, they say it turns your pc into a personal media cloud. you can basically share your files with other people and they can do the same with you and you can download music and other files from eachother. it reminds be a little bit of dc++ or ocd. i haven't used those in a very long while though. do you think something like this could work? i mean as an alternative to megaupload and torrents? personally, I think this is pretty cool and I am waiting for them to release it so that I can give it a try..I really don't wanna go back to tape recording lol

Interesting - seems to be alot of new users on alot of forums mentioning the audial and its supposed 'dark net' thing...
Im guessing they are affialiates doing some subtle spamming to get discussion going - cronc - guilty as charged - do you actually have a clue what ableton live is and what this forum is for?

Same variation of posts - vague mention, then 'i read this article... blah blah...'

mmm, I think instead it is important to talk about these things everywhere.
An example of where these so called reforms head:
I wanted to watch a video from an e-news in another country about a famous politician behaving like an idiot with a young girl. This video was shot in a club with a handy. There was music in the background, commercial house, the kind rich people like to dance (I know this because my friends suggested me to watch).
Because of the very severe German laws about these things I could not watch this video.
(Legal systems always find ways to create new jobs for these people - there are squadrons of lawyers searching and looking out for people who watch stuff which in theory is not available in Germany causing a fake economic loss).
In my opinion, this is where it is actually going:
Censorship.
And this is only the beginning. I am waiting for the shut down of Wikipedia, caused by the Britannica Encyclopedia which does not want free information on the net. And I am waiting for the African communities to be charged by Beyonce´s record company because they do not pay the rights to enlarge her already fat ass.
And one can complain and say, "oooh, but its right, you have to respect Copyright!" Yes, and you should also eat less meat, and not buy Apple computers, and also not vote for Republicans and also do not support Chinese export... And also, if one really wants to know the Record companies in 2011 made a new Record Income... 20 times more than in 1999. So it is all bullshit.
2012 will, in a certain way, be remembered as the year where through the game of Copyright (a concept which derives from late 19th c. Liberal societies and still did not actually change) Information found the dam of Legality. But My experience is that Legal is NOT Just... Chinese dictatorship is legal, but is it just?
As a matter of fact everyday in Germany millions of emails are controlled and scanned by the internal affairs, and as a matter of fact even this post will be tracked. So long Internet.
