Thinking I might get one of these to replace my old firepod interface which has been acting strange lately.

Anybody got experience of it?
It's between that or a Focusrite Safire at the moment

I like the flexibility of the input and phantom power switching. But there are no real reviews of it yet.
Tempted to place an order on thoman.de (£191) and see if they can actually deliver. It comes with a one month money back guarantee so I can always send it back if it turns out to be full of bugs.
actually the whole front panel is beautifully laid out now I look at it again. what with the headphone selector, mono/stereo switch and the various metering options.
I think I've convinced myself.

bastards at production-room.com said they were in stock on the web site, took my money then emailed me to say they aren't available in the UK until February - but they've got plenty of others types in stock !!!!!
I'm apoplectic about it
Obviously I'll cancel the order, which will cost them - giving me some satisfaction
what a bunch of arseholes

i say go with the focusrite.. they are atleast more reputable when it comes to audio interfaces vs akai.. just the name erks me.. "electromusic expander"... also given that akai tends to have problems with software (just look at what happened to the mpc 5000), i don't know how stable the drivers are going to be for this guy.. and since there bread and butter is the mpc, most of the companies resources will go to those product.. it does kinda look cool, but other than that, all the features this thing has come with most interfaces

Not many (any?) with the ability to plug in four guitars, that's the main thing that's got me hooked.
It's a dilemma to be sure.

The buddies at my local equipment shop gave me one (EIE) to test it and write a review.
Anything you want to know in particular?
Maybe I´ll give it a shot this afternoon (in about six hours).

Hi, I'd be very interested to know your overall impressions regarding sound quality build quality, feel of switches and sockets etc, but most importantly stability with absence of clicks and pops at the lowest latency settings.

I just ordered one from Thoman who have them in stock now (they say). They do a 30 day money back guarantee so there's no risk if I don't like it for any reason.
I'll report back once it's had a thorough testing.
