Any way to delete a specific clip via MIDI footpedal switch?

Hi All:

I've got a Line6 FBV connected to Live 8.1.4 (also using midiStroke for a few commands).

I've mapped switches on the footpedal to record guitar clips into 4 slots on a track. Now I'm interested in being able to delete those 4 clips and start over - all without looking at my laptop screen.

I was thinking there would be a way to send MIDI messages from specific footswitch buttons -> midiStroke -> Live, such that one button press would end up telling Live to, say, select the clip in slot 1 on track 4 and then delete it as well.

I've looked around on the web, but haven't come across any solution to this - every similar solution seems to involve navigating to the slot in question using the mouse or the arrow keys on your keyboard.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and let me know if I can explain this more clearly. Thanks!

Forgot to mention that I have Bomes too, if that helps.

I'm not sure if live has a midi command for delete. Are you wanting to record a loop and if you don't like it delete it? I've got a way to do this without deleting any tracks.

Thanks, Cuica man.

Yes, what I'm trying to do is record an audio loop and then have the ability to delete it later with one button push - no matter how many other actions I've taken in the meantime, or what track/slot happens to be highlighted at that point.

Make sense?

Is your idea to have only one loop recorded when you delete, or will you have multiple loops recorded and want to delete a specific one? When you say loop are you saying you record multiple clips into a scene, or using looper? trying to figure this one out, but its tricky since you want to delete something thats not selected.

for footpedal use i love this script, really opened up control

have you looked into native kontrols clyphx.

i dont know if these will solve your specific problem but they greatly enhance lives contollerism capabilities.

This would work but it a third party app.
Why do u want the delete the track?

For what its worth...When I record I turn on "record on scene launch" in the pref... then I midi map a foot pedal to scene down and then I can record as many clips as I have scenes.

There is a Max for live command for Undo.

Hey, thanks for the input, bartend7.

What I'm trying to do is to record several clips into one scene, and then have the freedom to select and delete any one of those clips *without looking at the screen or using a mouse*.

Basically, what I was originally looking for was some way of addressing specific tracks and slots, so that I could map a MIDI control to, say, Track 1/Slot 4.

There seem to be plenty of ways to map various MIDI controllers to move from track to track and slot to slot, but none of those are very practical when you're playing guitar and singing - and not looking at the computer! Make sense?

that would be cool to figure it out. unfortunately i cant help, but maybe its possible in max for live. i have no idea because live is complicated enough for me. i can think of one workaround. what if you set up a looper on each track? you could record each part into its own looper on its own track. then you could delete the musical material from each looper, but you'd have to select that track, and most likely look at the screen. maybe getting a launchpad or apc40 could help you visualize live without using the computer. I dunno.. I'm sure this doesnt help. good luck though, it sounds like a great idea, and please post if you figure it out.

Thanks, bartend7. I might check out Max, though I agree that Live is complicated enough. I play guitar so I don't have to think about these things! :D

Anyone else with a brainwave about this? Let me know if there's anything else I can explain.
