Sequencing Reason instrument midi control data in Live

I'm using Live 4.1, Reason 2.5, M-Audio Firewire Audiophile and Radium49.
To sequence Reason instrument midi controller data, I assign whatever parameter I want in that instrument (say, Filter on a Malmstrom) to a Radium knob/slider, and then record the movement into Live, in the clip envelope. I just wanted to check that there's not a quicker way to do this, or do other people do it differently? I can't seem to get around the rather laborious process of assigning controller data to the Radium, which involves referring to the midi implementation charts.
