Hi ableton people!
I noticed my GUI in ableton gets really slow and my entire computer as a whole becomes slow. My MacBook pro runs fine however. This is with an empty project. Any ideas?
My iMac is a 2010 model. It's a dual core 4gb ram about 600gb of drive space left.
I would be most greatful for any help.
Thanks for reading

The confusing part is, Logic runs fine on this computer, as well as Reason. Is it an incompatibility issue with Ableton and the Motherboard of this system? Anyone running a 2010 iMac here?
Thanks

sometimes it happens on my 2007 imac as well. when it happens i run onyx (
http://www.titanium.free.fr/index.php) that usually tells me that something is wrong with the startup disc. i then repair the disk with the Snow Leopard system disc, reboot and the problem disappears. it might not be that, but for me it's the case more often than not.
even if there's no problem with the system, it doesn't hurt to do a bit of cleaning with onyx or similar softwares every now and then.
i hope this helps.
(osx 10.6.8, live 8.2.7)

What version of Live are you using? What version of OS X? Same on MBP and iMac?

I'm also using a 2010 MBP and experiencing the same issue.
Live often brings my Mac to a grinding halt, especially when doing something tasking like loading a set (which can easily take 15+ mins). Or even just importing clip from one set into another.
When the slow down happens the entire machine locks up: I get the spinning disc mouse pointer and can't access any other apps. No other app causes this behaviour.
I emailed support a week ago but not heard back yet.

...in fact, just after posting that I tried importing a track from one set into another (just a simple audio track with one small sample clip and no FX).
The import took about 10 mins, with the Mac frozen up the whole time, while Live's CPU meter sat at 9596% (!).
Does anyone else experience this kind of thing? Wondering if it's more an issue with my Mac than with Live.
Running OS 10.7.2 and Live 8.2.7.
2.4 GHz Core i5, 4 GB ram
50GB free of 500 GB hard drive.
