velocity range...automatically?

Let's say I have a snare drum roll, machine gun style, that spans 4 bars. I am wondering is there a way to select the 4 bars and tell Live that the range will be for velocity 10-127 and spread it equally among the 4 bars so that the velocity increases?
I have seen this in Logic and Cubase, but I can not seem to get it in Live?
I can draw it in, but its never clean and do it manually is a real pain.
I would have to assume that there must be a way.

Do you want a ramp up?
You can hold Ctrl/Cmd and clickdrag in the velocity part of the clip window to create a linear ramp-up like a drumroll
You could also try using the Velocity plugin to set a fixed velocity and automating that

Yes I want to ramp up....exactly that.
so I click cmd (mac) and select my 4 bars...but then what? Sorry I did not get you?
no tools within Live? What plugin do you know of that can do this?

The Velocity device is a tool within Live, under MIDI effects.

I don't think there is one, annoying as that may sound. CTRL Clicking just lets you slide the VEL up or down on the midi note, you can do 1 at a time or multiple, but theres not a ramp up feature.

Make sure that the E in the lower left is pressed to show clip envelopes. Then select the Snare Mixer from the first drop down in envelopes... then draw accordingly.
If you want to know how to do something similar in arrangement mode, just say so.

see page 148 of the manual for agent314's method of drawing a velocity ramp. Very useful IMO

The probelm he'll encounter is it doesn't evenly ramp up, you have to accurately place each hit. A useful thing to know however, as I use it daily.

Automate the velocity sensitivity in Simpler, and just set the velocity for all snare hits to 127.

Wait, here's another one:
Set velocity sensitivity to 100% in Simpler, and use a Velocity plugin, with a fixed velocity. Then automate the "Out Hi" knob.

Niice.
Heck I might just try using an EQ3 and automate bringing in the mid and hi, and keep the low full the entire time, an EQ filter roll
