Clip Frame on Controllers other than the launchpad

Hello all!
I recently picked up an Akai LDP8 as my first midi controller for Ableton. I was sorely tempted by the launchpad, but my budget kept me from getting it...for now.
I've been having a blast so far, but I had a question:
Is there any way to make a moveable 2x4 "clip frame" similar to the 8x8 clip launch frame that the launchpad uses? (The red border in the image below)
While I know how to map each individual clip for launch to each pad on my LDP8, having a frame that I could move around with the arrow keys or something similar would be amazing. From the research I've done, it hasn't been done yet, but maybe you all know a way to do it?
