its an acoustic electric bass
pezio bridge pickup
currently dead
trying to determine if its in the pickup (which i can barely access up in the body) or in the unit where you plug in/tuner...they want $50 just to diagnose at the shop, so i thought id at least take a shot
have volt/elec meter...have soldering iron
any thoughts greatly appreciated........

I'm sure I'm really stating the obvious here, but it doesn't have a battery in it somewhere does it?
I only ask because my bass is the first and only guitar with an active pickup that I've owned and when it went I got the shock of my life - really fucked up screeching noise.... I didn't realise at first it was the battery and started thinking it was fucked

yeh, battery, first thing i changed out..nope
either:
pickup itself gone bad (idk if pezio even can)
connent from pickup to eq/preamp device
bad 1/4" plug socket..idk if that possible
my gut tells me there was a shit solder somewhere...just no real way to narrow down where.....

hmm... sounds like a PITA to me...
are you gigging with it?
My 2 electric 6 strings both need work doing (had them both over 20 years) on the pickups and switch and jack socket... I'm not even going to go there, just waiting until I can afford to get them looked at properly... if I was gigging it would be a much higher priority of course!

no, this was my first one, sentimental, i did some recording with, and i like to practice with it bc its my only 4 string now...very quiet just unplugged so i usually plug in just to be able to hear...not a huge loss if it was strictly acoustic, but this kinda shit just bugs me to not have working
+ i'm on a soldering rampage..one hi-Z cord, one headphone, and a loose battery wire on my 5-string already fixed, i want a clean sweep, haha

ok, just gonna add a few more bits for the archive...maybe someone will find this in a month and be able to direct me....
the piezio is still good, verified thru the tuner, also still good, it get power from the battery still, which is in the other unit back down where the output jacks are...
so, both the hi-z (1/4") and the low Z (three prong, mic type output) do not send signal...
the way i figure...its the output of the eq/tuner unit (the peizio goes direct there only) or the output of the jack unit...
i would like to find a new jack unit...been looking all over the net, except the place where i would find such a unit...there is a tiny 4-pin jack that come from the eq/tuner unit to this rear battery/jack unit...
one of these is what i need to find, i think....
