Session view vs. Arrange view MIDI note detection

I just downloaded and installed the latest update to Live v411. It still has the same problem of not recording all MIDI notes received in a MIDI clip in the session view. I tried the experiment again. I made a blank MIDI clip in the session view, set it to record, and smacked a bunch of closely space MIDI notes with my MPD16 at different velocities. It would not record all of the notes I actually played. I could hear them while I was playing softly but some notes just didn't get recorded. They aren't necessarily all low velocity notes either. When I did this experiment in the arrange view, no matter how softly or closely spaced the notes I played were, they ALL got recorded. There is definitely a difference in the way Live handles MIDI input in session view as opposed to arrange view.

Anyone else notice this? Try it. :( :?

Hi Sharkcellar,

could you sent me this Live set (just the .als) where you have these both clips in Session adn arranger view?
Would be nice to see what the difference is and hopefully help us to reproduce it.

regards,
Alex

are you sure it's not because the notes you record in session are quantized (thus closely played notes will be overdubbed), whereas in arrangement, there is no quantization and all the notes you play are recorded?

on this subject, i wonder why there is no quantization in arrangement...
actually, sometimes there is, but it's just impredictable... :?
