Do you like Reaktor? Is it worth spending the time to learn?

I just bought Komplete 7 and opened up Reaktor...it's really intimidating. Does anyone use Reaktor and have examples of what it can do? I need to see it's goodness before I spend too much time reading through the manual :D

I downloaded the user sounds from the NI website, but haven't had a chance to go through them yet.

Reaktor is fantastic and definitely worth learning!
Its definitely my desert island plugin as it has everything

theres so many ways you can use it
has some amazing built in synths
sound generators, sample players
superb effects
huge user library of all of the above

Pretty much anything you want to do, you can do it in reaktor!

Can be really intimidating to begin with but dont let that put you off
Start by exploring some of the content that comes with it like the synthesizers

You can get really in to it and start making your own instruments and effects with it using the core cells and built in macros etc

Vectory
BeatLookUp
BoogleBetaX
Glitch
Grain States
Any synth by Stephan V
Stinger

Some folks like the Twisted Tools guys make really cool ensembles for sale
Plus the Finger, and Razor are pretty amazing.

Totally worth it!

"desert island plugin"....absolutely, basically if you can't do it in Reaktor then you can't do it. Build all you want or just spend years trawling through the 1000s of quality setups in the user lib.

Reaktor is THE AWESOME collection of modules and ready-to-use devices of all sorts.
Have a listen here - the drums (sounds and patterns), bass and voicy pad are all from Reaktor 5:

I love it to pieces. I am discovering new things ever so often (although I own Reaktor since 2006).

Btw, my other stuff on http://www.soundclick.com/landosonic was also largely made with Reaktor.
For example, the bass, pad, physical modeling guitar and special fx in this track:

You'll value this program very much once you have learned the basics.

Peace.

You don't really have to 'learn' Reaktor to use it, other than how to open up an ensemble and (sometimes) route MIDI/audio internally to it.

However if you're interested in learning more about/experimenting with synthesis it can really expand your horizons. It can also be a way to get a really personal sound.

I haven't messed around with Reaktor in too long, but one of the most rewarding things I ever did in it was to build a little noise synth out of basic macros (I think they're called Modular Macros or Vintage Macros or something like that). It's far more basic than most of the stuff in the library, but I'm far more likely to use it in a track because I understand it and have no fear in digging into the guts and messing around with it.

In short, I love Reaktor and IMO it's definitely worth the time :D

i never missed reaktor. maybe its useful but i have 12908379283074982734 other things to learn which are more essential. whats with your skills? do you think that learning reaktor will help you finishing a song? ;D

live 8 + komplete is enough for you (stuff for million of songs). i have suite 8 and i want to use less than possible.

I like having Reaktor just to sample cool patches into Sampler. Then I never have to deal with hundreds of different UI's, etc. which can keep you away from getting work done.

I remembered another great thread from on here about Reaktor. One of the forum users designed a tool to automatically generate sample maps for Reaktor from the WAV files in a folder, very handy. Check it out:
