Hello fellas.Im a trip hop/experimental producer and Lately ive been really been inspired and motivated to make IDM/glitch music,for example in the link below.
My question is where do i start for making a such a subtle drum pattern and that glitchy sound effect like this? I know that theres hardly any drum kits that sounds like that and my guess would be pitching and tweaking the drums up a bit and maybe use the oscillator for sound designing but still i am no way near the sounds i want to get.all i needs a lil more pratice and some tips! thanks =)

as with most music production, there are many ways to achieve the sound you want. because of the intricate and detailed nature of glitch patterns, they can often involve lots of different processes

there are tons of tutorials on youtube that should give you some idea of how you might approach this... just search 'ableton glitch' or something like that. i think tom cosm has a good one.

also, check out izotope's 'stutter edit' which is a powerful, (if expensive), way of generating glitch and stutter effects

Ive made tons of beats like this using nothing but the slice-to-midi function. Lots of tweaking though.
Ad the midi random device and things start to get interesting.

yeah, take a beat, slice to midi (probably not using the transient setting, you want the slices to be pretty small) then, automate some effects, - bit crusher, reverb, delay, chorus, stuff like that... and tweak, and tweak, and tweak

@jellycaster very Detailed nature of glitch pattern indeed.
Theres a couple of tutorials thats helpful and gives me idea but it wasnt enough but I well check out tom cosm and izotope's 'stutter edit' and look further thanks =)

@Rabalder Is there any certain kind of drums you slice? Id trying using drum breaks and did alot of tweaking before.it was a almost to the sound i wanted. maybe i will try adding random device,never tryed that before. thanks!

You can make a glitch beat from anything.
2 seconds of traffic noise can become a forever-changing beat lasting 10 minutes..
Its all in the tweaking.
