Now that you finished every tutorial about the operator, you are thirsty for more.
Who wouldn't be?

FILTERING NOTE'S
METHOD 1
First you will need to download these scale presets. And follow the instructions of the README to install them.
http://users.telenet.be/Vayner/beatbox%20scales.zip
These presets are made, so that you can filter the note's being sent to several tracks.
In this example, we will input midi with a keyboard (or midi-clip) in track 1.
Track 1 will send midi to track 2, 3, 4, and 5.
With the scale plugins, we will make it so that track 2 only receives midi-note C2.
Track 2 = C2
Track 3 = D2
Track 4 = E2
Track 5 = F2
First set up 5 midi tracks as shown in the picture.

Now add scale devices to the tracks.
Track 1 = 2 scale devices. Load the preset "beatbox1" on the first. Load "beatbox2" on the second.
Track 2 = 2 scale devices. Load the preset "op1" on the first. Load "op1b" on the second.
Track 3 = 1 scale device. Load the preset "op2".
Track 4 = 1 scale device. Load the preset "op3".
Track 5 = 1 scale device. Load the preset "op4".
We will only use 4 operators for this example. But with the presets that are included you can have up to 8 operators.
The black keys on the keyboard are not used. And you always need 2 scale plugins if the note is a C.
And there is another method too which is actually allot more easy.
But i learned that the hard way

FILTERING NOTE'S
METHOD 2
For the second method you just add 1 pitch plugin to the track you want to filter.
- set it's range to 0
- specify which note can be played
- thats it
Ok, thats two tricks covered. You can save your 'live-set' for later use.
This template is useful if you want to control several instruments from 1 source.
You could trigger different drum sounds, sample's or au/vst's.
Or even rhythmic patches on the operator.
My next trick will show you why i think this is a cool trick.
TERMINAL VELOCITY
Take the 'Live-set' you just made. And add an operator to Track 2, 3, 4 and 5.
If you play on track 1, you will notice that each operator only plays 1 specified note.
Lets make some patches. The patches we are going to make will use the operator's ability to modulate various parameters with note velocity.
I will show you screenshots of all the parameters. I could just give you the patches. But thats no use if you want to build your own later.
I will always start with oscillator A on the factory preset.
---TIP--- If you find it hard to get the right value with your mouse. Then you can enter the value with your keyboard. If you want to enter a value like "24,1 Seconds", you enter "24100".
---TIP---If you want to learn more about the parameter you are tweaking., remember that the info view has an explanation of every parameter. Just move your mouse over the parameter you want to learn more about.
Operator 1 (track 2)

If you play with this patch on your keyboard, you will notice that note velocity makes the sound change. Instead of just going louder or quieter. That is because we changed the "Osc<Vel" parameter on Oscillator A and the "Freq<Vel" parameter on the filter.
Operator 2 (track 3)

Operator 3 (track 4)

Operator 4 (track 5)

Now you have 4 different sounds that can be played from track 1. The patch on operator 4 is a rhythmic patch.
Make a new midi-clip in track 1 by double-clicking on a slot.
Draw in some notes like this. I am working at 138 BPM. But that really doesn't matter much.

Turn the monitor on track 1 to "auto"

Ok, i know it's not a musical masterpiece. But this is really all to show you something cool.
Add a velocity plugin to track 1. And play around with it. especially the "Out Hi" parameter.

Like that? I bet that noise patch on the 4th operator annoys you.
You just learned how to alter patches to respond to note velocity. And if you downloaded the free covert operators patches for the operator, then you have more then enough to play with.
I must warn you. If you hook up a midi controller and assign some knobs to the velocity plugin, global time/tone parameters on the operators,.........
You might lose several hours of valuable time.
---TIP---You can also do this with the simpler. Other vst/au will work too. But the operator is easier to handle and is fully automate-able.
---TIP---Actually, you have 4 operators with free slots for clip automation.
---TIP---Effects and some more routings can spice up things drastically.
---TIP---You actually have enough scale presets to do this with 8 operators. Or 7 operators and a simpler. Or............
---TIP---You can also make different groups of these routings. Try making some complex melody's that you blend in with the velocity plugin.
---TIP---If you want to use midi-clips that where made for the impulse. You will have to add a pitch plugin as the first device on track 1. And set it to -12.
---TIP--- Filtering note's also works with the pitch plugin
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. To be continued..........
