Hi
I'm a some-time live user, and now i'm gonna take that on the road, with a kind of complex live se up.
I was wondering if someone here did something similiar and can give me any tips on connecting this stuff properly.
So, here's the deal

I'll be runing live in a racked-up g5 runing a 8 out rme interafe to a external mixer, and i need to:

*have 2 separate stereo outs from live for the clips and virtual instruments
*have an extra (separate) stereo out for the keyboardist with a independent midi channel (actually is a whole midi port), so he can play with his own midi keyboard a virtual instrument that i'll be hosted in live
*have a midi in for a simple keyboard that will serve just to trigger samples and loops
*have a midi in for a keyboard with enconders and sliders that will serve to play some vst synths (hosted in live too)

and i have no ideia if this can be done, or if it's better just to sync live with logic and host the plugins in there, or simply use stand alone versions and use different midi ports, but i would prefer to just have everything in live, so its faster to load all the setting for each song.
I've alredy tried (not very much, i admit), to use several midi keyboards with different proposes with live (eg: one midi keyboard to trigger samples, and one to play vsti's) but without sucess... when i program, let's say, a C3 to trigger Sample A in keyboard 1, the C3 in keyboard 2 will also trigger sample A and won't play
So, how the hell can i keep everything apart?

OK, I'm not an expert on this but make sure each MIDI track in Live is set to the specific MIDI input (and channel, if appropriate) you want it to listen to.

To do this make sure "View" -> "In / Out" is ticked, then change the "MIDI From" pull down menus for the track.

By default they're set to "All Ins" (and "All Channels") which would explain why "C3 in keyboard 2 will also trigger sample A".

Also make sure the "simple keyboard that will serve just to trigger samples and loops" is set as your Remote Control Input in Live's preferences.
