There is a dept. where APC-40 demands more attention than necessary. It is in terms of where you are in Ableton with APC's red focus square.

As you navigate with APC, ableton's cursor follows, so it's an instant to switch from the controller to the DAW, which is serves the main purpose of using such a device.

However, when you navigate in Live, APC does not respond. So if you want to get to the spot you have been editing, you need to find the sector and still the scope on apc can be shifted in relation to that on screen.

I can think of two optional settings to make getting from screen to apc as intuitive as from apc to Ableton:

1. APC focus follows on-screen focus, similarly as it already does with device focus (isn't this a most logical follow-up?)
Thus, wherever you are on screen, you can immediately get things done with apc, too.

This will enable another choice to be made in Live options:

a) apc's leftmost upper clip button is always at the position of the cursor

b) 8x5 paging - as you move with cursor across the tracks, from when reached track 9, apc page focus to tracks 9-16. Similarly with scenes

What do you guys think?

Hi Darren

Easily done? My reasoning is the cursor position change each time would have to re-set the APC matrix focus.

Is this as simple as to be a single if->then command?

A hint would be welcome.
