Can anyone give me guidance into how I would go about submitting my music for licensing for sound collections, soundtrack usage, etc?

The easiest and safest way is to join ASCAP or similar. They represent you and your work and take a tiny piece of the pie. I have had great results with them. They also have things like health benefits and insurance. Once you are a member, people need to go thru them to get rights to use your music. That's it in a nutshell.
