Midi sync truncates notes...

Im running 8.2.8 on lion and have Ableton sync'c to Traktor. When EXT is enabled I cant play notes in Live - drum rack plays blips/impulses rather than the full sample. Everything works greta when EXT sync is off :/
Ive seen another post for this for soemone using 8.2.5 but there's no answer on it - is this a problem or is there a way around this ?
