Looks like I will be moving to L.A. in the fall for grad school, what are some tips people have about the area?

Spend some time in the most congested prime time traffic in your area and get used to it. That it was it will be like 24/7 in LA.

Since you're currently living in the north west it can't be overstated that you need to leave behind your leisure pace. People in CA move with purpose even if they don't have one. So don't piss people off with your lollygagging around when you're driving or walking. And don't waste people's time when you're up to bat at the counter like you've never seen a McDonald's menu before.

On some late nights if you're quiet and around Topanga you can hear a faint echo of "whooaaaaaa" coming from Keanu Reeves as he's coasting down the hills on his motorcycle (with the lights off).
