ok check this out-

i have 2 clips in the same track, i can play 1 then another, it sounds great.
when i record them onto the arrangement veiw, there is an uadible hickup when it changes clips.

anybody ever noticed this before?

i've tried RAM mode, i've tried dc offset (KTaudiohealer), i've even tried volume envelope on track mixer volume (really quick fade out and back in).

never have i noticed this happening before. really fricken irritating.

ask and i'll email you a project with 2 short clips where this exact thing is happening. it's already got them on both the session and arrangement view.

any feedback MUCH appreciated.

Im occasionnaly getting this "hickup" problem also...
For example, last time was a 2 beats clip all alone on his track in the arrangement. The 2 beats sample is a 1 beat glitchy sound followed by 1 beat silence ("within" the sample)... The hickup occurs when the playhead reaches the end of the clip...
This happens randomly. If I quit n I restart Live, it's usually allright...

Hi Benshik,

if it happens randomly it is naturally harder to investigate. Probably the warper is responsible for this kind of clicks. But it is hard to catch them as long as it is not reproducible.

Interesting. I had this problem yesterday (4.1.1). I worked hard with soloing the clips in arrangement, drawing volume envelopes to smooth out the endings of them and when I thought I had done a good job the clicks suddenly reappeared - and, as said above, not on every turn of the loop.

Tested with the Fade button on the clip.
When off, I got the click at the start of the clip also.
And now, after the clip has been played for some minute, the end click disappeared... After retriggering the clip - first time OK, next time end click is back...
The click seems to sound at the same time as the CPU % drops from 3% to 1% - that's when Live thinks the clip is not actively used I guess.

Edit: These tests were made on an unwarped clip with no volume envelope.
Edit2: The problem with the end click became less when I consolidated the clip. First one was a part of a slightly longer recording - click comes and goes. Consolidated, playing the same audio but loop set to whole wave, the end click in not high piched but more of a low "normal" bump noice.

i use fade as a default for clips.
it just doesnt make sense to me that the same audio engine, doing the [seemingly] same thing with the same audio, ends up not working the same...

i just hope alex and the doods figure out something, maybe its a relatively easy bug to catch.

Now I got the click coming and going in Simpler too!
Very nasty noice 2-3 times every loop the midi goes.

conny, i tried your als out, and i sounded normal to me...
im not sure i followed exactly what your problem was tho, it seems to be diff from the problem ive been having.
but i didnt notice any clicks, pops, dropouts, hiccups or whatever.

Hm, OK, guess we have to concentrate on the initial problem then, which we share.

I have the same problem (clic at the end of clips) with 4.1.1 but not (or less) with 4.0.4...

i dont think it wrx correctly with either 4.1.1 or 4.0.4 for me.
alex emailed me back, and here's what he said:


Thanks for the Live set. I can reproduce a 'click' in the Live set you
sent between the first and second clip. Indeed it seems to be a problem
of our warper.

If you move the second clip as minimal as possible to the right it
sounds normal. We will investigate this problem but I cannot
say when we can fix this. All warper related issues are mostly complex
and we have to be very careful when doing changes there.

OK, I will need this fix!
The most annoying for me is that after quite some time of tweeking individual clips I think I made it work.
But suddenly the click comes back and I have to start over again or draw a multitude of volume envelopes to get rid of it but then also unwillingly fading small portions of the clips.
