Live 8.3 & Max for Live V5.1.9 Stability issues - April 2012

Hi Forum,
Ive just burned 3 days trying to learn basics of max for live programming syntax primarily for jitter capability,
to sync video with audio during live sets. A stripped down Live 8.2.8 set running on Windows 7 64bit with minimal outboard had been pretty stable for audio only. (see my other posts on Live stability).Ive tried to use fabriziopoce's V-module set for max for live, but have found it, or Live, or Max for live to be unstable / continuously crashing requiring PC reboot .Ive also crashed max for live (5.1.9) or live(8.3) while making my own very very simple max for live instruments.
I was planning to use jitter to mix just 2 video tracks in realtime (video & compositor effects) triggered by midi. So not especially complex.
Can I get some feedback on the following please? - Please fill in the poll.

Is there any support available for this product from ableton or cycling74? - Has anyone had successful support.
Is MaxforLive a complete waste of time/money/effort?
Would you recommend potential buyers of this product to steer clear of it?
Has anyone managed to use max for live jitter capabilities successfully for live performance without stability issues / crashing?

cheers

The v module set is great but it is just one guy generously sharing what he has made. There is no guarantee that it will work on every system, no bug testing etc. Bits of it worked on my laptop and bits of it were too heavy. The jitter objects have loads of methods and it'll take a while to understand what can be done. If all you are doing is syncing video loop length or start point to the transport it might be better to build something from first principles... So you can develop an understand of what the bottlenecks are on your computer. In response to your poll. I use max for live both in performance and composition. Like any programming environment the most crashes happen with patches I make and the least happen with commercially distributed devices. The stuff i use live doesn't crash for me... But max has an unstructured way of storing libraries etc. So there is no guarantee it would work for others without me becoming more professional in my patch design.
