Opening 8.3 kills sound in other programs

I've just moved over to win7 64bit from XP so i don't know if this just me or not, but opening live 8.3 stops audio working in chrome
anyone else have the same problem?

i just installed internet explorer 9 - the same thing happens
BTW, I'm using a nio 2/4 audio interface

Are you trying to use the same soundcard for Live and when surfing, at the same time?
I've always been under the impression that if your using the same ASIO driver for 2 applications it doesn't work. I maybe completely wrong though, maybe it depends on if your sharing the same output channel.
Try setting a different default sound device in the windows control panel.

In Windows 7, go to control panel > Sound > Select your device > Click properties > go to the Advanced tab > Un tick 'Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device'
See how you get on with that

Yep had the same problem W-7 CHROME< finally after days went into properties and ticked sounds.
