Waves plugins hidden latency headscratcher

made a chain with Znoise and maxxbass, also thrillseeker (not waves) turned off though, just in case...
getting big latency, noticable even if i turn the whole effect rack off
only way i can get rid of the latency is to delete the rack then put it back on after recording...none of the buffer settings in prefs have any effect on this, even when latency is supposed to be 0 or less...
using asio4all, normally i enjoy 0 latency whatsoever
any thoughts, anyone?

I think 'z-noise' (or any noise cancelling plugin for that matter) is meant for mostly offline work..
the audio coming in needs to be analysed.. then processed..
to achieve ("Adaptive dynamic detection for noise that changes over time")
it's not a bit by bit function like a lot of other plugins...
it's chunks... analyzed then processed bitwise accordingly....
so it needs TIME ..
you'll have similar occurrences with 'linear phase EQ' and other sophisticated algos..
if you delete the plugin and you hear the delay shift..
it means that Live is compensating for the plugin when it's in the chain..
it's a good thing..
in short.. you're not going to get 0 latency from this plugin (and some other ones)

I used Z-Noise in Studio One without this delay problem...
...and as always..., at half CPU processing power.

yeah.. it's well known that live is a hog...
it has different needs..
I use Reaper for that sort of stuff..

thanks! relieved.....couldn't see how it could be my setup, wish i had asked sooner....
never thought i would want to get back into reaper, might have to check that out again...i can see how it could take over some functions a bit better...
