sample a loop of it
slice to midi
replace sounds in drum rack with different samples

^^ what he says.

also, when counting you will notice that Jaki basically plays figures of 16th notes on the snare that lead to the main hit on 2 and the 4.

Thanks for the answers, slice to midi, right! shame on me
Is really a good way of learning the patter construction and some rhythm theory, I dont know what "plays figures of 16th notes" means, but I can imagine, these snares have less velocity than the main two in 2&4?

16ths = there are 16 equal notes in a bar of 4/4
8ths = there are 8 notes in a bar of 4/4
quarter = 4 notes in a bar of 4/4

Want to know what a bar is, look at the time line in Ableton.

extract the groove from the middle section, the drummy solo part.
You'll have to correct Live's transient mistakes on the hits, but you'll be able to pick out his shuffling groove from that groove map.

I find that when listening to drum parts if I use a variety of EQ and utility tricks to listen to particular frequency bands and combinations of L &| R it's a little easier to spot those odd little tricks which make up the beat. Hi-hat pedal variations, or ride patterns, whatever.

yes, I know what a 16th is, I didn't know what a "figure" means :)

@Angstrom
yeah, isolating the details will be interesting. these little things make all the difference

Interesting thing: Radiohead´s National Anthem drum patter takes all the "inspiration" from this track
