Why can't I paste or duplicate after x amount of steps?

I have this problem where I use Live from anywhere between 5 minutes to an hour, and the program will no longer allow me to paste or duplicate clips.
I thought that maybe it might have something to do with a corruption in the undo history but I am not so computer savvy that I would randomly delete stuff.
This has been plaguing me since 4.0.2 I think.
Thanks!

Hi LOFA,
ok, when you reach the time where you can not paste or duplicate clips...
How does the "not able to paste" behave?
- Is the "paste" menu entry enabled but it just happens nothing?
- Or is the "paste" menu entry disabled (grayed)?
- Do you get an error message?
When you save the song and reopen it immediately, can you paste then or do you have to start Live again?

Alex

Thank you for your time,
When I try to paste or duplicate, the command is grey. I can still duplicate entire scenes though. My other option is to save the current set, and reopen it. It works fine then, for what seems to be an arbitrary amount of time.

thanks, I will try that out next time!
It is still sort of unpredictable, and could potentially be a pain in the ass though.
Nevertheless, your method is quicker than reopening the set!
Yea-hah!

Hi LOFA, Hi DJ VAKIS,
we would need a pattern to reproduce this or at least to constrict it a bit more.
1) Duplicate
---------------
So you have selected a clip but the 'Duplicated' menu entry is grayed?
Is that so for all clips (MIDI or Audio) in any tracks or just for some certain clips or only in Session view or only in Arranger?
If the 'Duplicate' menu entry is grayed, is it the same for the 'Copy' menu entry?
2) Past
---------
This could be a follow-up of the 'Duplicate/Copy' problem. If nothing has been copied to clipboard before, there would be nothing to paste. So we should concentrate on the 'Duplicate' issue at first.
3) Maximize / minimize
----------------------------
LOFA, when you have this problem again, seems the maximize/minimize trick from DJ VAKIS to help?
regards,
Alex

I have not had this problem in the last day or so. It is very odd, but the unfortunate truth is it always pops up when I don't want it to. Once it happens again (as it will undoubtedly do,) I will try the maximize-minimize trick and report back.
Thanks Again
