Ableton Essential Instruments Collection- samples or presets

I was checking out the ableton essential instruments collection and had a few questions about it. I saw someone using the sounds in a tutorial, and I thought the sounds were racks and device presets. But I was over at someones studio the other day who also had the collection, and from what it looked like it was all wave file audio samples.

So my question is, are the essential instruments collections samples or presets for ableton devices, or both?

If there not device presets, were can I pick up more quality presets? Like stuff for Tension, Scale, rack combos and whatnot.

Both. They are device presets that use samples that are part of the package. The samples are not organized to make it easy to use them by themselves--you're intended to use the presets.

Okay, I see now. So the waves are there just so the presets can referance them. Is it smart enough to install the presets under the devices they go to? Or does it just install in a everything in a EIC folder?

If you download the EIC file, I think you just import it as a live pack. Just select the file from your browser (Finder on Mac or Explorer on Windows, I think), click and drag the file over Live and drop it in. The install should happen automatically and the instrument presets will be setup for you!
