I can never get my hats to have that same roll like his do, they never sound as smooth.
Any tips?
Not really a noob and it's kinding bugging me that something so simple is stumping me
Thanks in advance!

go beyond 16 steps in the bar to 32 or even 64, depending on tempo.

Shlohmo, mmmmmmmm nice track.
Are you talking just the H/Hats or the Perc as well ?
You may want to try some swing and maybe some delay.

Just the hats, I know how to do them but the just don't have the same feel, used some on this track here:

Just don't sound as smooth as his, maybe it's the sample I use, I dunno, tried messing with all sorts of swing and other grooves, so, so, so stumped on this.

It's probably the sample you're using that's giving you the headache.
Seems like a pretty simple pattern, but the attack/release and groove will be the most important elements. Their is a fantastic plugin called SPL Transient Designer that should help you get it feeling very tight. Other than that, you should be able to get it with just a closed 808 hat from operator and a bit of tweaking.

You need to cut the sound by itself to make it sound natural, namely mono.

How do I set that up in a drum rack or even sampler, I know what you mean, just not how to do it, Thanks!

Try a good Reverb only for drums(in sends) !
Don't use Lives Reverb....
Overlouds Breverb 2 is amazing...!
WizooVerb 1 is older but also very good...
Nice reverb gives color and live to you samples in first place.
That's what I hear in your example link.

I think it sounds a lot better now with the choke on the hats?
Anymore other criticism is welcomed also, want the hats to be perfect.
