Ableton Forum

Okay so I just picked up omnisphere after trying it I just had to get it. I installed the disks and now am trying to open it and authorize it in ableton. I can't seem to do this. It doesn't show up in the plug-in folder.

It says I need to 'instantiate omnisphere in my host sequencer' I am assuming this is ableton, but I can't seem to get it to work.

I looked for the plug in at all the locations that the installed said it would be in.

The only other thing I can think of is I don't have an 'audio unit or vst 2.4 host software' but I thought this was ableton? Please tell me I don't need logic or cubase

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Gotta contact support tomorrow but I want to play this thing NOWWWW

ahhh nevermind, downloaded the software update and the vst shows up now. Jamming... amazing

The Moog tribute expansion.. is def worth it too.

I've been wondering about the Moog Expansion. It is recommended then?

moog tribute is highly recommended especially because of all the new sound sources on top of the 700 something presets
some designed by yours truly
the whole thing goes to the moog foundation too

I thought the moog tribute was pretty meh....in too many cases it's just a new pile of much-too-fancy patches that sound cool when you press a single key but are pretty much functionally useless in a full mix of your own material. IMO you're better off forgetting it and just focusing on the potential of using the already insanely vast soundsource library as building block OSC material. especially if Omnisphere is currently brand new to you, are the thousands of patches truly not 'enough' already?

Seriously though, I know what you mean and it is one of the reasons I haven't bought it (or other vsti's I would like) yet. Common sense does over rule gear lust most of the time.

Hi Omnisphere users,

i also own since a few days the Omnisphere VST, i found that when i use more than 5 Sounds at the same time Playing, i had to increase my buffer size quite a bit.

Although my CPU was not overloaded, Live jumped at some points up to 170% CPU load.

When i used the ASIO driver from my Komplete Audio 6 it got a bit better, meaning that i could use lower buffer sizes in comparison to the Asio4all.

Asio4all: 412 Buffers vs Komplete 6 Asio with 192 Buffers.

Does anyone of you have an RME Babyface to compare buffer size values ?

I would also like to know what is your work flow:

Do you compose melodies and sculpt your sound to your melodies - i.e. on the fly ?

Or do you create sounds in advance, so to have a library available when you composing songs ?

I found that with certain melodies , i could use any sound that i created. But for other melodies, i could only use a very limited set of sounds. I know it depends also in general how complex the sounds will be.

I agree. The Moog tribute pack is so full of crunchy, aliasing type distorted patches and mainly rhythmic ones. I find about 10% actually useable. But at least it went to a good cause. The original library itself is just endless already though. I would say though that the Trilian library has to be their best library, especially the synths! But it's very good to use in Omni.

have you checked the hans zimmer patches in the tribute? the main thing is the new sound sources
and yes trilian is the essential bass expansion module with tons of good analog leads in there too
