only after you've done the maximum you can... to treat your room physically..
so the effect would be as subtle as possible..
it analyses your room using the regular sweeping sine-wave method...
and "corrects" it by making an eq curve... not ideal..

keep in mind..the more accurate your mic chain is the better it will analyse your room ..
(I think they recommend using some acoustic measurement reference mic)

my room is treated to a degree - bass traps - diffusers behind the monitors, at early reflection points - back wall and a cloud

there is quite a bit of boominess and mid/highs could be brighter - bedroom studio ...

i did some reading on the arc and ofcourse mixed feedback from people - but most people seem pretty happy

the pack come with a reference mic - no point in using a directional mic for this is seems - plus you'd have to take into account the frequency response curve of the mic

the ref mic that comes bundled i think is an omni directional condenser reference mic

well it's supposed to also correct phasing problems.. which is quite good..
I only wonder how much latency it adds..

it would be interesting to use the bundled mic with something like room eq wizard to see how it looks on a waterfall chart too

personally I would try to DIY ...
200$ is a lot (imo) for an unknown mic and a glorified eq..

an acoustic reference mic can be rented ..you're gonna need it only once per room after all..
(imo any good flat-curved omni-condenser will do the job good enough)
there are good free room analyzers sw available..(like REW)

Im not surprised you are happy with it. Its not really a garden variety eq curve. Its more of a complex filter matrix applied to each speaker separately and adjusted automatically for multiple speaker arrays and listening positions without you having to do anything. Its even more useful if you either cant or dont want to slap carpets, mattresses, foam or egg cartons all over your room, or more importantly, mix for surround. If you can afford an acoustical engineer to design your room, by all means. But ive known studio owners who did that and still found some improvement (albeit minor).

We have just updated ARC to 2.0 for 4 times the accuracy and a ton of other features.

im trying to take a room measurement using arc 2 with the rme babyface -

I'm taking the measurement using the arc in stand alone mode and when i take the measurements - the sonic chirp sound does nt alternate between the left and right monitors - but it comes out of both monitors for each set of chirps

would you have any ideas about why this might be ?
