Audio "play-through" -- how to turn on?

Yikes, I'm having trouble finding the audio play through function...
the manual of my audio card wrote:
Some recording programs and computer systems provide what is called a, "play-through," function.
This can be performed through software or harware. When play-through is eneabled, the computer will
output the audio that is being recorded, at the same time that it is actually being recorded.
Does Ableton have one? Any ideas?

Ableton doesn't but your audio interface might do. Look for "ASIO Direct monitoring", or "direct monitoring"

If your card supports it, you'll find the option by going to
Options >
Audio and clicking the
Hardware Setup button in the Audio Device section. Another name for this feature, which, as synthbob noted is hardware-dependent, is "zero latency monitoring."

I'm guessing my audio card doesn't support it. I'm using a card without a driver, that runs on the usb codec..
