Hey All,

I'm having quite a bit of trouble using Sampler, it's actually frustrating..

Whenever a sample synth from vengeance's library is loaded into Sampler, all problems start from there..
1 - I can't seem to sustain the tail of long notes; I either have to change the sustain mode and play around with the release settings, or alter the "Root Key" to sustain the sample for a little longer; but again, changing the "Root Key" brings up another issue; sample's tempo.

2 - Altering the sample's "Root Key" automatically affects the tempo at which it's being played, e.g. C4 note, A#3 note and G#3 note with a C3 Root Key, the tempo of the two latter notes decreases as they're triggered.

I tried everything I can and couldn't really figure it out. I would appreciate it if anybody out there knows anything that would help me get the results I want; sustaining the tail of long notes (notes on the piano roll, regardless of the samples length)

1 - Not sure what you mean. If you want a really long sustain, just increase the decay or keep sustain at max, like any envelope. If you want to change the default setting, you can save a sampler template.

2 - Ableton forgot how to timestretch in a device after impulse came. Their "advanced" sampler can not do it, therefor pitch changes affect the length of the sample. Most of us gave up asking about 5 years ago.

Your comment on my first hurdle is not something that I haven't tried, I did everything; increased decay, kept sustain at max, even increased the release a little in the hopes that it would contribute, but nothing changed. The tail of the sample is what I'm trying to sustain because apparently the length of a note on the piano roll doesn't really change anything, sampler would just play the sample once and that's it, so the tail of the sample is not being affected whatsoever, even after adjusting the loop brackets (loop start and end), no changes..

Here are my settings (sustain envelope at max., release & decay increased):

Trial 1
Sustain mode - Loop
Sample Start and End always zero
Loop Start and End altered (crossfade taken care of for clicks)
Release mode - Off
Result - Sample tail not sustained.

Trial 2
Sustain mode - Loop
Sample Start and End always zero
Loop Start and End zero
Release mode - Loop
Release Loop altered (crossfade taken care of for clicks)
Result - Sample tail not sustained

I even mucked around with the Aux envelope under the Modulation tab, routed "Time" to Destination "A" and played with the Aux Envelope Amount, no change..

On the other hand, your second comment tells me that Sampler is absolutely useless, which I originally thought..

I guess that will take forever with my super-fast computer.. I really wish I was able to.. I'll try posting something next week. As for your question, well, it's a synth, so essentially what I'm trying to do is create a melody which means that it will be looping; yes, but with different notes and note lengths.. Get the picture? So you suggest Simpler for this purpose?
