the audio overload percentage (shown in top right corner of live) gets up to 80 % after only like 3 midi clips play with a couple effects total.

I have the g4 powerbook, i thought it could handle more...

any suggestions??? i know i can make everything mono, but would that really do a whole lot??
thanks every 1

dont use Live Reverb.
its a hog on mac.
try the Apple AUMatrixReverb (make sure you turn on "Use Audio Units" in Preferences / Plug In)

it sounds just as good, and is far less cpu intensive.

what are your midi tracks running, plug in instruments? if so, which ones?

track 1- simpler trigo and chord
track 2- impulse set artefact short
track 3- simpler trigo and chord

sorry no reverb i was mistaken
thanks!

(my desktop sony vaio has no problem with this load (my soundcard is a different story) but my laptop just gets overloaded so much faster)

you've got something else weird going on with your machine. no way should this give you 80%

have you repaired permissions lately? if your extra ram definitely seated properly? are you rewired? is something else heavy running?
