Forgotten Plugin Settings:What have I done to deserve this!?

So I had this amazing combined synth patch involving a Reason Combinator Rewired on one channel, and 3 different FM8 synths with a Guitar Rig on a couple of them, all grouped and controlled by one master MIDI channel sending out the notes. I made a couple of patterns, praised little baby jesus for the awsomeness of it all (hey - i'm not religious, but being a bit of a beginner I can't exactly rely on skill yet), saved under a new project, went to sleep.
I woke up - thinking maybe it was all in my head how good it was, fired up Ableton even though I was late for work, pressed play getting ready to bask in the glory of it all one last time before the frenzy of my day began and to my *horror* It was a clanging mess!! The sum total of the damage is this: all 3 of the FM8's were set to "NewSound" and the drop-down menu that usually shows the patch name now just says "disabled".The Guitar Rig patches seem to be intact.And the weirdest thing is that the Reason Combinator is now horribly out of tune.
Questions for not-so-newbies (any help would be GREATLY appreciated!):
1. What did I do wrong? Was it changing the folder when I saved in order to create a new project? Are the settings somewhere else maybe? I NEVER want to make that mistake again!!
2. Is there the remotest chance in hell I can salvage this project by moving it back to another folder, or some other way?? I used 3 different pre-sets for those FM8s, and then tweaked them.... theres no way I'll ever recreate it by backtracking.
