If you download the Muon collection from the Muon website you get the Tau bassline 303-alike VSTi for free. Much better than using samples...

hope that helps

I'm a big fan of Audiorealism's Bassline - the most authentic sounding 303 plugin in my opinion. Not a sample, and not free, but killer sound.

this is a good collection of free vintage samples, with historical info too. the 303 is at the bottom of the page.

My personal favourite 303 emulator is ReBirth (again of course not free).
Some VSTi emulations sound pretty good, but I still haven't found one that sounds as good as ReBirth to my ears.
It's also a lot harder to get a convincing 303 sound out of a VSTi bassline synth because so much of what makes a 303 sound the way it does is down to its 'quirky' programming interface, which ReBirth emulates.

heya...
am's tb303 instrument
it is a TB303 instrument built in Impulse, using a sample from my very own TB.... but please feel free to swap that sample for whatever you want... really it is just an idea of how you can use Impulse as a kind of step sequencer for pitched instruments, (not just percussion).
the file is only 200k, and contains one TB303 sample, and the live set it is in, using only Ableton FX.
I hope you like it.
