Axiom Pro | How to Control Tap Tempo

Hey All-

I've recently had to replace my failed Axiom 1st gen with an Axiom Pro 49 with HyperControl. I think I've got my head wrapped around how it maps to everything in Live but something I simply cannot get to work is Midi Control Mapping.

With my previous rig I had one of the drum pads assigned to control Tap Tempo in Live so I could get my tempo-mapped patches and FX to sync in time with our drummer.

I can't seem to get the drum pads - or any key or controller for that matter - to link to any midi Control in Ableton.

I'm sure I'm missing something - hoping someone here my have an idea?

Joe-

...when select midi port to all
DO NOT press Exit.
Just press Edit 2 times.

Still no change - pads, keys, numbers - nothing registers in LIve when attempting to Map

what about in Live's preferences? did you make the change from Axiom classic to the new device there?

Yeah, I followed the instructions from the manual to ensure HyperControl was functional - that works like a charm - though not always super intuitive.

The only nut I can't crack is how to get Midi information to pass from the Axiom outside of HyperControl so I can do Midi Mapping.

did you find a solution yet?

if not try this:
1. on axiom pro, go to edit
2. switch hypercontrol:normal to hypercontrol:transport (press C# key or '0')
3. exit (press soft key F1)

all knobs and pads are programmable now. just click midi mapping on Ableton and you should be able to assign the tap tempo to any pad.

unfortunately, you lose all hypercontrol assignments of the knobs and pads,

you can however, switch between hypercontrol: normal and transport on the fly in the middle of a session - which gives you access to your programmed mapping

hope this helps
