Waves PAZ Analyzer - Does it work in Live?

I learned the hard way to check the compatibility list at Waves before buying plugins there for use in Live. Unfortunately, the PAZ Analyzer is not individually mentioned in the list, while bundles that plugin's included with are on the list as being Live compatible.

After installing the plugin and license on my PC, however, I'm still only seeing Waves C6 (which is another story- it's listed as compatible on their site, but it's really only partial because side-chaining requires VST3).

32-bit Cubase shares the same VSTPlugins folder on my system as Live, and the PAZ Analyzer works fine there, so I don't believe it's an installation or authorization problem.

I searched this forum, and I've seen PAZ Analyzer mentioned several times, but I don't know if people are actually using it inside Live. Can anyone confirm or deny whether/how it works in Live?

Thanks.

when i updated from waves v8-v9 i had to put the entire waveshell vst plugin in a new folder that i created before live would recognize it.

it was strange, but it was the only way it worked when scanning vst plugins folder.... This was for all waves gold bundle including Paz.

i'm on osx though... so not sure if it will work for windows.

Are you saying there's a way to send a key input to Waves C6 in Ableton Live? If so, please share your methods.

I'm not the only person who's run into this problem with this plugin.

In Cubase you set up a send from the key input track to the plugin, but in Live, I haven't found a way to do that. The plugin itself simply has an "internal/external" toggle switch.

EDIT: I based my assumption on this Gearslutz thread, where the person got a response from Waves tech support saying VST 2.4 didn't work for sidechaining.

don't have C6 but... check in the routing menus... you should be able to send sc to C6 on another track

I submitted support requests against both PAZ Analyzer and C6. Regarding PAZ, they said they don't officially support Live 8.3, but gave me a few tips to try out.

Regarding sidechain on C6:
Dear Sir;

My name is xxxxx from the Waves Tech Support Team.
Unfortunately,Side chain is not supported under Live.

Toggling VST support off and then back on in Preferences fixed the Analyzer thing. My guess is it's the weirdo way that Waves V9 works, where there's just a single VST DLL that creates a virtual plug-ins folder in Live. I even see WavesTune now, which I initially bought not realizing it wasn't compatible with Live. Doh.

I just bought my first Waves plugins (OneKnob series) and couldn't get Live on Windows to recognize the VST. I tried this suggestion (I created a folder in my VST plug-ins folder, named it Waves and dragged the Waveshell-VST.dll to the new folder. Then it all worked.

Thanks for the tip!
