Well this is what I am trying to do. I was in traktor messing around, and I had a loop in deck b, and an acapella in deck a. I chopped the acapella in deck a, and made a great tune out of it. I wanted to do that in albeton but it just became a time eating process.

So how do you guys do it?

The nice thing about traktor is that you can set cue points easily and quickly and have sample all set up in seconds. I hope there is a work flow that is easy and fast enough like that in ableton.

i put the sample in an audio clip, set warp markers at key starting points in the sample, rt click /slice to new midi track, choose 'warp marker' as the slice points, similar i suppose to your cue points...then youve got your sample all chopped up in a drumrack...cake

That's interesting way of doing it. I will have to look into that!

-turn off warping
-drag song into audio track
-tap bpm to find out the right tempo
-turn on warping
-put warp marker on the first beat, adjust accordingly
-right click 'slice to new midi track' or cut it in arrange view and rearrange to your liking

if you wanna make an mpc type rack for when you 'slice to new midi track', look up JBlongz on youtube, he has a great tutorial on it

To be honest I don't do this with Live. It's a bit messy for that sort of thing, not accurate enough for my liking. For all my waveform/sample editing I use Audition. It's a great little tool, extremely user friendly and offers some good flexibility.

It all starts with a joint, a beer, and a break... You roll the joint, pop the beer, and import the break. Once your feeling shit, you look for the transients. Transients are key. I always said, "the world wouldn't need war, if our drums had better transients." Once you find the transients.. I believe its a right click, slice to drum track... Be 1 with the attack ftw

This kind of thing is SO easy in Traktor, if only Ableton would take notes from Traktors midi mapping preferences, things would be different.

Yea man really, but then ya know there is always a work flow with everything! I am wondering even about finding away to have a loop play, do my chop ups with the acapella in traktor, and have it all record in ableton for further processing.
