how good/bad is it..
can it pass for field recordings?

It is perfectly usable as an "emergency mic". I always carry my phone with me, and a mikey
fits in a pocket somewhere. I've only tried the first gen mikey, and I'm now using a Tascam iM2.
I have the same feeling with the Tascam though. Great to have in my pocket for those "emergency"
situations where I've left my recorder at home.

Works fine, but the digital version that works its the iphone4 still is not yet I believe.
