Switching between MAx6 and MAx5 RT as main M4L editor

Hello All,
Hope you are all well on the list.
I am having a very strange issue with M4L being unable to switch to Max5 RT as my main M4L editor.
I have bought Max 6 2 months ago and immediately decided to switch to use version 6 for M4L but I realised that all the monome emulators for launchpad were unuseble.
Then I have been absorbed by another project and when I came back to Ableton, I have installed Max 5 RT again and try to switch to it in the preferences.
But Ableton says that there is no useable version of Max in Max 5 RT folder...this is where the main application sits...
This is annoying.
Does anyone had the same issue and have a solution?
I am using it on Win XP, Ableton 8.3.2.
Thank you
bassik

Hi. I know it's not much help, but I've had not problem with this. I've switched between them many times with no issue at all. I can only suggest that there is a problem with the 5 installation and Ableton cannot find what it needs....

just checking, but when you say Max5 RT, that is the full MAX 5 release?

Hi there,
Max 5 RT = Max 5 Run time.
I only have version 6 full.

ah, ok, that'll be the problem then, you need to install 5 full so that Ableton has access to the files it needs. it'll still use your M4L license tho, so it's not an issue, although after buying 6 I asked Cycling if I could have a full 5 license aswell and they sent me one (this seems to be policy), so you can do that aswell if you want.

Ok...will try this tonight, thank you.
I don't think you need a license for the full version to make M4L to work but will ask Cycling anyway.
Thanks for the tip

no, you don't. i just asked them for a 5 license as there were some things I couldn't get working in 6 (there's still some unimplemented functionality from 5 and also a few bugs)

Hello storesignal,
sorry for being late.
I am using monomeemu as I found it quite reliable but I don't use it at his full potential (only monome 64) as I do not exactly monome based music.
I mainly use MLR and nothing more (sometime polygome).
I saw monomodular but it looked like you need application modded to work with it, am i wrong?
Any advice or user history much appreciated.
Peace

no, thats not true! yes you can make your own monomods but you can use any monome app via monolink (which is included in the monomodular download package). just put a monolink device in front of the monome app and lets go
