I just watched the Bitwig beta video. The first thing I though is that someone has got Live, changed the colours and moved the stuff that was on the left to the right.

Is it a hoax?

Bitwig - over two years and we got a couple of videos that could be Ableton re-coloured and re-arranged. I am sure that can be done in video editing software. The most hyped up product since Teenage Engineering which turned out to be a $700 casiotone.

From what I can tell they are fairly low key about it. It’s the potential users that won’t STFU about it.

Well, honestly there's been no product hype in the history of the World like the pre-launch of that fucking OP-1. omfg. It was the kind of shamelessness that actually had Apple fanboys blushing. Those guys were hauling around a dummy prototype case that did nothing, but based on the bloggers and tech press you'd think they'd just reinvented the synth - one that could assfuck you AND give a reach around at the same time. omfg.

BITWIG hype is there, no doubt, but not even remotely close to the OP-1. I remember the very first post about OP-1 - which showed a small rendering. The white shiny Apple-Like plastic had people declaring in droves that it was a MASTERPIECE. There were very few detractors.

At least with BITWIG there's been a healthy dose of skepticism. With the OP-1, there were approximately 2 of us actually expressing doubts.
