Are you using the soundcard that's built into your computer, or are you using an external audio interface?

if your Y-cable is like this:

http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_sssnake_ypk2030.htm

then it should work. the signal level won't be quite right, but you should be able to get an okay sound through your Saffire. if you can't get enough gain using a line input on the Saffire, try plugging the jacks into your mic inputs instead.

no, not clear.

what inputs are you using on your interface? do you have trouble connecting other equipment through your interface, or is it just the iPad that you have problems with?

when you say the signal is weak, is it just quiet, or is it also distorted?

it should work. unless the cable is damaged you are doing something wrong, probably in the mixer setup of your Saffire.

but if you don't provide some real details, and answer the questions i ask, then i can't help much, sorry.

go back through the posts above and answer the questions, otherwise, good luck!

so have you tried using inputs 1 & 2, which have more preamp gain available?

the output from an iPad is a headphone out, it's not a proper line out.
