What is the best way to use Live8 in a live band setting for running tracks and click tracks to the drummer, what would be the set up of choice beyond the laptop. very green here folks so any help would be nice, Thanks D

Wait, you want to use Live as the drummer or with a drummer?
If it's as the drummer, program it up and play along. If it's with the drummer, you need to have an audio interface with multiple outs so that you can send out a cue feed to the drummer as a click track. The last time I did this, the drummer didn't like playing with the metronome, but didn't mind playing with a simple cowbell sound set to 1/8th notes.
Set it up so that 1/2 is your main out to your PA, and that 3/4 can be used as your cue. Then, click on the cue/solo button to activate the cue, and then the cue/solo buttons on each track you want to go through that signal, probably just the click track, as the drummer should get the main sounds from the monitors.

Thanks Jeff! sorry really green here let me better explain, I'm the drummer and I just got Abelton to run tracks for a duo project I'm doing I have the tracks loaded in and ready to go, now I'm looking for the best and most reliable way to get the tracks out of the Mac and give myself the click with my in-ears I know you suggested an audio interface and ideas on your preference? most importantly I have to do this night after night with out a front of house sound man, so I'm looking for road worthy.
any thoughts?

There's a lot of them on the market, I use a fast track pro because it was cheap. If I get a new one, it will have many more ins/outs to allow for more live musicians. It really depends on how much you want to spend, look on musicians friends or guitar center's sites for ones in the price range you want, and then read up on reviews.

The fast track ultra is low end but gets the job done for me with my drumset because of its multiple outs. Its also very easy to carry around and donesn't take up to much space. If you are not needing to mic your drumset then this is not the option for you. It also has two seperate headphone outputs so you and your musical partner could run seperate headphone mixes if necessary. I would suggest to also set up some sort of foot pedal situation that you could midi map to live's tap tempo button for total tempo control during performance.
