Stutter Edit glitch 8.4.3

Post by Tysonviolin » Fri Jul 27, 2012 6:25 am

Im having a problem where Stutter Edit causes Live to jump 1/2 a beat. This only occurs every 10 minutes or so of playing. It doesn't happen in the 32 bit 8.3.3 Live. I am using Mid 2012 15" Macbook Pro 2.6 quad i7 with 8 gigs of RAM. Live's processor meter isn't going over 25% and all other functions are working properly. Other plugins in the set include Predator, SubBoom, IK Media TRacks, and BigSeq2.

Hi Tyson,

It sounds as if you are comparing 8.3.3 32 bit and the 8.4b3 64 bit?.
Just to be sure that stutter edit is the cause of this jumping 1/2 beat, please try to reproduce the problem with a simple set - one sample and stutter edit. It can also be one of the other plugins that creates an internal overload that wont necessarily be visible in the CPU meter halting the transport for 1/2 a beat, a problem you will only see with the 64 bit version, and not with the 32 bit version.

I tried to reproduce this with version 1.03 of stutter edit but could not.

Mads

Hi Mal
Thanks for the reply. The weird thing here is that it is happening on a set that works fine on my 13" core duo 2.4ghz macbookpro with 8 gigs of ram. This other computer is running Live 8.3.3. I need to try the set on that computer with 8.4.3b. If it is a problem with the new computer I am baffled because the new machine is WAY faster in all ways.

Hi Tyson,

It would be helpful if you could reproduce the problem on the computer where you see the error with both 8.4b3 / 64 bit and 8.4b3 / 32 bit.
Then we know if it is a local computer problem or if it is specific 32/64 bit problem.

Mads

I opened an old set that works fine on my old computer on my new computer in both Live 8.3.3 and 8.4.3b
The 1st thing I noticed is my memory monitor (Memory Man) stated 2.45gb free and 3.1gb available using 8.3.3 and 1.85gb free and 2.3gb available using 8.4.3b

I am having a hard time getting it to make the glitch without my soundcard (Apogee Ensemble) attached

Hi Tyson.

If I read you right the glitch is no longer reproduced after adding more memory?.

The memory reporting to the system is rather concerning, is anyone else experiencing this error?.

Yea. Basically, my new computer needs more memory to do the same tasks. Honestly though, it is super quick now.
